I had always been a skeptic of social bookmarking. I had done bookmarking, paid for bookmarking services and saw no real results. There is a huge difference between the word submissions and backlinks.

I also knew people who had their accounts closed and had their IP address banned from social bookmarking sites for using multiple accounts and automated social bookmarking software. I had tried to get friends to bookmark my site but found most people were lost at the first mention of bookmarking and backlinks.

I was fortunate enough to be introduced to several other people that were of like mind. They had sites they wanted to promote to increase their internet presence. These folks volunteered their time and effort to help each other by bookmarking each others sites.

I am truly grateful that they were willing to follow a specific format to test the bookmarking theory I had. Thanks to all of these folks it was evident in a short 3 week span that we truly were on to something. Thus Social Bookmarking 101 was born.

The results of this group that was 20 plus strong was phenomenal. By using the specific methods employed in Social Bookmarking 101 we were able to generate extremely targeted traffic, increase backlinks at a nice steady rate (just the way google loves it) and see many of our sites on the first page of google.

This group worked great, however to get the maximum effect we would need more members (right around 100). This would require setting up an easy to follow guide, videos, a way to manage members (this would include a way to weed out any slackers) a way to deliver assignments and of course a way to promote this to other like minded people who were willing to spend an hour a week helping others in order to help themselves.

This may sound like a lot of work, however if you follow the simple steps provided in natural SEO 101 you should have no problem.

The first thing you should do is point the Name Servers of your domain to your Host Gator account. All of the information you need is found at 1and1 and in the Cpanel of your Host Gator Account. It may take 24 hours for this to propagate. Don’t worry you have some fun and creative things you can do while waiting for this to happen.

You will need to pick a theme for your WordPress blog. The theme is the cosmetic layout that your blog will have. There are a few things you will want to make sure your them has built into it.

1. The sidebar should be on the right hand side
2. Make sure your theme has RSS on it.
   (RSS is the symbol you see at the top of this post it can be any color)
3. Make sure you like the appearance of your blog
   (you want to be proud of your blog)

You can find tons of Themes to choose from at: WordPress Themes if you have some Company logos or artwork you want to incorporate in your blog there is an easy way to do this. I like Einstein as you may be able to tell and could not find a Theme I wanted for this blog. I used this really cool product it comes with a Free Trial to see if you like it. It is called Artisteer You may want to check it out. I truly love this program.

Please take your time selecting or making your WordPress Theme. I will be gone for a few days as my Mother is having heart surgery. This should keep you busy with your Natural SEO blog until I return.

Having used natural SEO methods to pick a domain you now need to make a decision on weather you want to create a website or a blog. Both blogs and websites have distinct advantages.

To create an internet presence using natural SEO the fastest way to get high rankings is a blog. A website is the best way to advertise your services that reflect a professional internet presence. Website pages are also the best tool to make sales (in my opinion)

A blog can enable you to get high rankings fast and let customers and people interact with you and your company online. One of the requirements if you choose to have a blog is to be prepared to add content at least every three days. You need to weigh the impact of the graphics you want on your site. If you already have a good company logo and some quality pictures I strongly recommend building your own site.

Many of the tips in tricks you will learn here will depend on implementing the advice on your website or blog. For this reason it will not only save you money getting your site/blog up and running it will be key you have some knowledge of how to upload to your site in order to achieve high rankings.

The reality of natural SEO is this. If you really want to have high natural SEO rankings and get good traffic to your business you will want to have a blog and a website. You want to host your blog and website on different hosting companies. This may seem like a big investment however the ROI on high ranking websites and blogs is phenomenal.

This is food for thought. If you take this advice and I strongly advise it remember. Buy your domains at on source other than the hosting companies you use. I also recommend using Hostgator for Blogs and HostMonster for websites.

If we look back at Joe and Mary we saw they both sold paint. Now let’s see what defines them and their decisions on how they want to utilize natural SEO. First let’s look at Joe and his business and decisions.

Joe sells house paint. After reviewing his expertise he has decided customer service is not his forte. Joe likes to sell to contractors and large accounts. Joe has also concluded that shipping paint is not an option. The majority of Joe’s customers come from Plano Texas.

Mary sells paint to artist. Her forte is in not only paint but supplies. Mary lives in a small town. She has weighed the amount and demand of people looking for turbo fast acrylic paint. Mary has decided that if she wants her business to grow she needs to have national accounts.

Now both Mary and Joe are ready to start looking for a domain name for their website that implements natural SEO. Now we will look at some combinations of domain names that would serve them best. Remember we are working on natural SEO not branding.

Joe: Lives in Plano Texas and is targeting customers there as shipping is not a viable option. Joe knows he wants to increase the number of contractors he sells to, and of course he knows his product is paint. Joe puts together combinations of his target market to make a domain name.

The most surprising part of natural SEO for most people is that it does not start with the internet or your computer. Good Organic SEO starts with your customers and target market.

This step is critical. The first thing you need to do is define what you sell or the service you provide. Do not rush this aspect of your natural SEO process. The best way I know to define what I am trying to say is with an example.

Let’s say you sell paint for a living or wish to start selling paint. Now ask yourself a few key questions.

• Who are my customers?
• What are my customers doing with the paint?
• Where do my customers come from?
• What Expertise do I provide my Customers with?
• What do my customers ask for and about?

This may seem way too obvious to you. If so that’s great, if not you better get the answers before you move forward. Remember this is a huge part of your natural SEO process. Now let’s see why this is so important by contrasting two different answers

Who are my customers? Are you selling house paint, paint for artist, or specialty paint?

We will say Jo sells house paint. Mary sells paint for artist.

Obviously Joes customers are painting buildings. Joe needs to examine his true target market. Does he currently sell to mostly home owners, does he want to increase his commercial sales?

Mary’s customers may be painting, canvas, glass, ceramics or other artist mediums. Mary needs to look at the majority of her customer base, inventory, and profit margin and decide what target market she should pursue.

Where do Joe and Mary’s customers come from? Does either of them want to expand their market using natural SEO to promote their products? Joe’s product is heavy and shipping could be very expensive. Mary’s product may ship very well at a low cost.

Jo and Mary both know there expertise. It could be color matching, customer service, price or specialty paints. (I have no idea about paint but will do my best)

Again this is your forte, you know the answer. If the questions are general do not sweat this. If Mary is repeatedly asked for the new super turbo acrylic paint she should make note of that.
